Our Cattle

In 1989 we started our herd of registered Black Angus buying mainly from well known breeders, espcially in the mid-Atlantic. we selected annuals for (1) fescue should be singular not plural fescues; (2) calm disposition; (3) moderate frame, frame scale four or less; (4) resistance to disease common in our region; (5) maternal ability; (6) great eating beef popular among our own direct customers and restaurants.

In 2002 we introduced genetics for the South Poll composite breed from Alabama, which was developed with the same goals as our Angus but with increased tolerance for high summer temperatures and humidity. (see links) South Poll genetics were introduced by artificial insemination from three closely related bulls recommended by Bruce Shanks one of the original developers and an officer of that breed.
